Free Introduction
Book any of my workshops and receive a free 30 min introduction to the principals of photography. Using my unique PhotoWheel, we will use one of the hotels in Salcombe (Harbour Beach Club, or the South Sands Hotel) and I will show you the principals of the Exposure Triangle, a fun, jargon free tutorial. You buy the coffees, I will supply the tutorial FOC. Please complete this form in the first instance.

Around Salcombe
Salcombe has to be one of the best places to take photographs anywhere in the UK. As a photographer, I love the quality of the light and there is always something going on in the estuary (actually, it is really a ria), so there are plenty of photographic opportunities, no matter the season. There are beautiful sandy beaches and National Trust owned cliff walks, so I always try and carry a camera, whenever I am taking my dog Ted for a walk. If you are interested in a half day, that combines photography in and around Salcombe, together with some time to sit down in a local hotel and process your finished photographs on a laptop, do let me know. The price for 4 hours 1:1 is £295 (including camera equipment)
Beautiful Dartmoor
My wife and I (and Ted, or course), love taking the car up to Dartmoor and then finding new locations for photography. Recently, we have discovered Shaugh Prior and many of the photographs shown below have been taken in this magical place. As you can see, the Autumn colours and reflections in the river Plymouth are quite breathtaking and I can show you how to work with both a semi wide angle and telephoto lens, to produce a variety of views. Join me at 10am at Shaugh Bridge National Trust carpark and then we will take a walk though an old granite mine, before finishing our morning session along the beautiful Plymouth river. We will take a lunch break at The excellent White Thorn pub and then take time to review your images. This is a long half day, so bring along good walking boots and dress according to the season. The 1:1 price including lunch is £395. (including camera equipment)
Stormy Seas
Join me at Start Point for some seascape photography. I recommend contacting me during the winter months and then we can check the weather, before driving from Salcombe, via Kingsbridge, to Start Point (It takes around 50 minutes) Bring strong boots, warm clothing and waterproofs, as the weather conditions are likely to change rapidly. We will spend two hours on the rocks taking wave pictures with a telephoto lens and then visit the famous Cricket Inn at Beesands to dry out and have a bite to eat, before reviewing our photographs. The 1:1 price including lunch is £195 (including camera equipment)
Nature’s Details
I love taking close up photographs and there are plenty of opportunities on the beaches in Salcombe for some interesting pictures. Using a 100mm macro lens, we visit South Sands and discover some interesting shapes amongst the rocks, before taking a short walk up the hill to take pictures within the wonderful National Trust Overbecks Gardens. We will spend time walking around the gardens looking for interesting close ups and then review our images on the laptop over a cup of coffee. Two hours 1:1 including entry to Overbecks is £150 (including camera equipment)
